507 graduates received their degrees and diplomas at UNISSA's Haflut Takharruj or Convocation this year. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam as Chancellor of UNISSA conferred the degrees and diplomas to the graduates. The ceremony took place at the Plenary Hall of the International Convention Centre in Berakas.

 

The ceremony commenced with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, State Mufti.

 

Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Doctor Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd. Salleh, Minister of Education, and Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, Rector of UNISSA. Also present was His Royal Highness Prince Doctor Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office as Pro-Chancellor of UNISSA.

 

The reading of Al-Qur'an was presented by Awang Muhammad Aimanuddeen Syahir bin Haji Ibrahim, Bachelor of Fiqh and Judiciary graduate. Meanwhile, Awang Abdul Mujib bin Awang Sh'minan, Bachelor of Tafsir and Hadith graduate presented the Al-Hadith.

 

In a welcoming remark, the Rector of UNISSA among other things highlighted the latest development, including the establishment of the Faculty of Halal Science and Sustainable Tourism. He said the faculty integrated two disciplines that are hoped to produce capable graduates in the halal industry and sustainable tourism that is gaining attention among the international community.

 

His Majesty then officiated the conferment of doctorates, degrees and diplomas to the graduates.

 

Out of 507 graduates, 18 were conferred the Doctor of Philosophy, PhD; 79 received the Master's degree; 11 were presented the Post Graduate Diploma; 343 conferred the Bachelor's degree; 34 others received the Higher National Diploma; 16 were presented the National Diploma; and 6 received the Special Degree in 30 Juz Al-Qur'an Memorisation. The ceremony also feted graduates international graduates from Southeast Asia, Arab Republic of Egypt, Nigeria, Afghanistan, Togo and Palestine.

 

As a catalyst of the ummah's development in the Maqasid Syariah's sustainable ecosystem, UNISSA remains active in its role in providing quality Islamic higher education and high impact research. Doa Selamat was read by the State Mufti.

 

UNISSA's achievement across multiple fields reflected the institution's potential in pioneering innovation agendas that are based on Islamic values.
